Nephi, Utah: Central Valley Medical Center is excited to add another amazing
surgeon to our team. Starting on March 1, 2017 Dr. John B Sorensen will
join Dr. Richard Anderson and the outstanding surgical staff here at CVMC
as a new general surgeon.
I am pleased to welcome my new partner, John Sorensen, M.D. I have known
Dr. Sorensen for more than 25 years from the time I was a resident at
the University of Utah," said Richard Anderson MD, General Surgeon
at Central Valley Medical Center. "Together, we will be able to provide
an unprecedented level of general surgical care to the residents of Juab
and surrounding areas.”
Being an esteemed Board Certified in General Surgery, Dr. Sorensen has
spent the last three years at Desert View Hospital in Pahrump Nevada,
as the Head of Surgery, after spending the eight years before that running
the transplant team at the University of Utah, School of Medicine.
With a fellowship training in hepatobiliary and transplant surgery, his
practice has focused on general, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery,
liver and kidney transplantation, laparoscopic procedures including kidney
donation, and dialysis access procedures. Dr. Sorensen has also worked
as a trauma surgeon at three different level 1 trauma centers and is a
certified Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor.
This world-class surgeon received his medical degree from the Temple University
School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his general
surgery residency at the Western Reserve Care System, North Eastern Ohio
Universities College of Medicine, and a fellowship in transplantation
surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Sorensen not only enjoys serving his local community but serving his
country and fellow countrymen as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve Medical
Corps and has served four tours of overseas duty since 2001.
