November 23, 2021, NEPHI, UT -- Central Valley Medical Center (CVMC) is
excited to add another piece of the healthcare puzzle by bringing cancer
treatment closer to home
Last month, CVMC was able to treat their first Oncology Patient by way
of infusion therapy, better known as chemotherapy. The consultation and
infusion service was brought to CVMC through our new TeleHealth technology
in partnership with Intermountain Healthcare. These services will provide
support and care to cancer patients within the Central Utah Region and
surrounding areas.
Using Telehealth technology, which includes high-definition cameras, audio
equipment, and televisions, CVMC clinicians can quickly connect with our
consulting Oncologist Dr. Benjamin Voorhies. This makes it possible that
transfer if care is needed, it can be seamless and smooth. Dr. Voorhies
is a Board Certified Medical Oncologist with great patient reviews and
currently practices in Southern Utah.
Dr. Voorhies came to CVMC this past Tuesday (Nov. 16th, 2021) to meet personally
with our Oncology staff and Primary Care Providers. His personal approach
to quality healthcare aligned perfectly with our staff here and will make
a great addition to the current physician team at Central Valley Medical
Center. He also was able to see the "New Beginning Bell" that
was donated by Project Bell to CVMC.
Robyn, our dedicated Oncology RN, CVMC team members and Dr. Voorhies will
provide real-time evaluation and treatment plans for patients. Along with
the ability to coach our clinicians through many specialized procedures.
"Our main goal at CVMC is to provide individualized care. This program
will provide the ability for oncology patients to keep their cares and
treatment decisions with their Primary Care Physician. It will eliminate
the cost and time of travel that patients from smaller communities endure
during cancer treatment. The least amount of interruptiosn on a patient's
road to recovery is what we are triving for at CVMC. We believe this new
service and partnership will provide just that here at Central Valley
Medical Center." - Robyn Aagard, RN
