The 20 highest-ranked critical access hospitals (CAHs) in the country,
as determined by the
Chartis Center for Rural Health, were recently announced by the National
Rural Health
Association (NRHA). Central Valley Medical Center was honored during this
presentation and was the only in Utah to be recognized for this award.
The determining factors for the top 20 CAHs are based on the results of
the Chartis Rural
Hospital Performance INDEX and its eight indices of performance: inpatient
market share,
outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost,
charge, and finance. This
elite group of hospitals was selected from the Chartis Center for Rural
Health’s 2024 top 100
CAH list, which was released earlier this year.
Forty best practice designations were also given to facilities that achieved
success in one of two
key areas of performance: 1) quality: a rating of hospital performance
based on the percentile
rank across rural-relevant process of care measures, and 2) patient perspective:
a rating of
hospital performance based on the percentile rank across all 10 HCAHPS domains.
When accepting the award in Kansas this past month, President and CEO,
Mark Stoddard mentioned how a successful hospital comes from each person
that enters that building. From patient and employee alike. CVMC is entirely
humbled to be recognized for such a great honor from not only the NRHA
but also the patient’s, those who CVMC is committed to continue
