Provider Bio
Treating all patients with respect, Dr. Daniel Alsup likes practicing medicine
in a non-judgmental manner. In the changing world of medicine where corporations
are dictating medical practice, he is excited to get back to his roots
in a rural community after being born and raised on a farm as a child
in Bear River, Utah.
Being a Utah native, Dr. Dan grew up in northern Utah splitting his time
between science and sports. As a senior in high school, he found himself
winning both the international and economics science fairs and becoming
the region discus champion all in the same week.
Attending Weber State University, he was awarded the Crystal Crest Man
of the Year. During his time as a student senator, he legislated to begin
the first student pharmacy on campus. He was also an honors graduate of
the year, student senator of the year, and founded the Pinnacle Honor
Society for non-traditional students.
Time away from school was also set aside spending two years in South Korea
on an LDS mission where he was placed in charge of coordinating the dedication
of the Korean Temple. He developed a love for the culture and people of Korea.
He then was accepted into medical school at The George Washington University
in Washington, DC, on a prestigious Air Force scholarship. During this
time, he also was able to volunteer with inner-city schools and assisted
in the local emergency room.
After medical school, he entered internship/residency training in Family
Medicine at the University of Utah and gravitated toward Urgent Care Medicine.
He has spent the last 24 years splitting time between traditional family
medicine and urgent care.
Dr. Dan has spent training time in wilderness survival and aerospace medicine.
He also served as a volunteer physician at the Ogden Rescue Mission and
Weber State University. His love for science took him back to his youth
participating as a science fair judge and sponsoring a student yearly
in the International Science/Engineering fairs. He also received the award
of Resident teacher of the year.
He and his lovely wife Heidi raised two sons in the Ogden area serving
for years in Scouting as Cub Master, Scout Master, and Ogden High School
band boosters. Dr. Dan enjoys traveling, hiking, biking, and all outdoors
with his family when he isn’t working on home projects. He also
loves gun collecting and shooting challenges against UHP trainers.
