About Jared
Dr. Jared Pikus was born and raised in Utah Valley, Utah. Though at first he may seem academic and all intellect, his determination to experience life to its fullest has given Jared years of active and inspiring adventures.
Learning and progress have not only been achieved in academics, but also in his everyday living. Boating, water and snow skiing (whether down a mountain or off his roof) hiking, traveling, music, track and field, bungee jumping (some experiences need only to be experienced once), inventing, improvising and creating were all part of growing up.
His adventures continued on a two-year mission in Budapest, Hungary where he discovered a love for learning languages, culture, and interacting with people as individuals.
Not long after obtaining his undergraduate degree in Physics from BYU and starting a Doctorate program in Bio-physics, the real adventure began when Dr. Pikus married his high school sweetheart and soon afterward moved to Tallahassee, Florida to continue his graduate work.
While enjoying the wealth of knowledge he was gaining, there he noticed an immense void of human interaction and determined it was time to pursue a pushed aside the dream of becoming a physician. With his wife kindly reminding him in order to do so, he would need to overcome the little set back of hemophobia, he spent all of his free time volunteering in the Emergency Room of the local hospital.
Quickly cured of his condition, and finishing off with a Master’s degree in BioChemistry, Dr. Pikus found himself enrolled and attending Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine-Georgia Campus the following year where he excelled. Four years and 4 kids later- feeling passionate for nearly every field of medicine, Dr. Pikus decided his love of all medicine would best be utilized in a rural family medicine setting. After 3 years at the Utah Valley Family Medicine Residency, he took his family to rural northern Idaho where he has developed and practiced full-scope medicine at its best for the past 8 years.
He has continued his love for music as he has participated as the pianist in the Idaho County Orchestra; his love of travel visiting Russia, much of Europe, parts of Central America as well as nearly all states and his love for the outdoors including a new love of the lake and deep-sea fishing.
With loads of experience (in and out of the field of medicine), a family of 11, and a desire for a new adventure, he anxiously joins the Central Valley Medical Center team in hopes of continued growth and contribution to the Santaquin community.
