Growing up in the shadow of the Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake City Dr.
Karrasch gained a love for the outdoors. He spent his childhood snow and
water skiing, mountain biking, and camping. He gravitated to and excelled
in sports becoming a Utah high school state tennis champion. He cultivated
his love for sports medicine early receiving a certification as an assistant
athletic trainer while in high school.
Following a two year LDS mission in Hartford Connecticut he attended the
University of Nevada, Reno on academic scholarship and received the prestigious
Herz Gold Watch award for being the top student in his class. He stayed
and obtained his medical degree at the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
Dr. Karrasch completed his five-year orthopedic surgery training at Penn
State Milton S. Hershey Medical center where he had excellent surgical
training and took care of athletes at the highest collegiate level. He
took on leadership roles including Chief Resident and was nominated as
an American Orthopedic Association Emerging Leader. Following his training,
he further subspecialized by completing a sports medicine and arthroscopy
fellowship with Dr. Frank Noyes one of the fathers of orthopedic sports
medicine. While at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center
he treated athletes at all levels including his own three sons, high school
athletes, the Cincinnati Bengals NFL players, and aging athletes looking
to stay active and strong. In addition to sports coverage Dr. Karrasch
refined his surgical skills tackling complex surgical cases of the shoulder,
hip, and knee.
Dr. Karrasch brought his wife and three sons back to Utah to establish
his own roots and create life long memories for his family. When not in
the operating room or in the clinic, you will find him in his backyard
playing basketball with his boys or up the canyon exploring the mountains.
Dr. Karrasch and his team at Central Valley Medical Center are passionate
about orthopedics and sports medicine. He makes it a priority to get to
know his patients on a personal level and values patient education and
shared decision making to create personalized orthopedic care. Through
non operative and minimally invasive operative techniques, his goal is
to get his patients on the road to recovery and back to the activities
they too are passionate about.
